How to Convert Decimal Numbers into Binary Numbers

Binary numbers tend to focus on either being a one or a zero. For Mathematical purposes, the focus is going to be primarily on how to convert a normal number into a binary number and can range from either being a really small or really large number. The process is not too difficult but will take practice.

Binary numbers tend to focus on either being a one or a zero.  For Mathematical purposes, the focus is going to be primarily on how to convert a normal number into a binary number and can range from either being a really small or really large number.  The process is not too difficult but will take practice.

An example will be shown at the very end on how it works doing it in a Mathematical sense.  The whole purpose is to show how to go about knowing how to convert going from the decimal number to the

Requirements

#1: Having an excellent understanding of division will help tremendously as it is going to be focused.

#2: Knowing how to work with remainders will help as well.

#3: While it would be optional, a basic understanding of how binary works.

Tips

#1: Remember to constantly divide by two as the answers are either going to be 1 or 0.

#2: In order to find the binary number, make sure to note that you should start from the bottom and go directly to the top.

#3: Think of the 1 and 0 as on and off switches to a light.

#4: Be sure to use integers as it is going to be necessary to figure it out.

Steps

#1: The first step is to be given a number to work with.

#2: The next step is to take the number and divide it by two.

#3: Continue the process until going all the way to 1.

#4: Double check your information to make sure that it is correct.

#5: After your information has been checked completely, you’ll have your answer.

#6: Write down the final answer.

Example

In order to demonstrate on how it works, the number 100 will be used for this purpose.  It will show the complete process on how to complete it.

100 / 2 = 50    Remainder = 0

50 / 2 = 25      Remainder = 0

25 / 2 = 12      Remainder = 1

12 / 2 = 6        Remainder = 0

6 / 2 = 3          Remainder = 0

3 / 2 = 1          Remainder = 1

1 / 2 = 0*         Remainder = 1

*It is using whole numbers, which explains why that is the intended result.  Normally, it would either be .5 or ½ but for this purpose, it’s going to be 0 and will signal the very end.  Once that is complete, then simply take the number from the bottom and work your way to the top.

The final answer is: 1100100.
